The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon.
Victor Ochei, has called on Deltans in the Diaspora to key in and support the
three point agenda of the Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan led administration in the
state, as it will engineer tremendous prosperity ultimately delivering the
dividends of democracy to residents of Delta State.
Hon. Ochei, made this call while delivering the keynote
address titled: “Bringing Economic Development Utililising Base Analysis
Theory” at the 2012 biennial Anioma USA Convention in Dallas, Texas, United
States of America.
According to Hon Ochei, his submission stems from the need to properly situate
the Delta State government’s position in idealizing, propagating and the
application of the three point agenda as the necessary tools for societal
development. The Speaker opined that “the need to ensure the actualisation of the three point agenda prominent amongst which is the human capital development, gave rise to establishing the Delta State Micro Credit Scheme which has impacted positively on the entire state.
He further revealed that since the state is eminently endowed with abundant human and natural resources, the onus rests on Deltans to take advantage of these glaring opportunities in contributing to the economic growth of the state.
Hon Ochei equally used the medium to clarify some misperceptions about governance which he said is “premised on the core values of transparency, accountability and good faith negotiation.”
He therefore requested prospective investors to come home and invest in the future of the state, as the government will offer all necessary support to impact positively on the state’s economy.
Also at the event, Hon Peter Onwusanya, member representing Oshimili South Constituency at the Delta State House of Assembly, intimated the gathering of the on-going transformation in education within the state, which he described as a positive index in the state government’s quest to provide the best for the populace.
In his words “the education sub-sector in the state is undergoing both infrastructural and administrative transformation,” adding that model primary schools of global reckoning would be built in the twenty-five local government areas of the state.”
A friend of the convention, Hon Efe Godfrey Ofobruku, representing Uvwie Constituency at the state legislature, advised Deltans to always hope for a better future, as the legislature and other arms of government will continually justify the confidence reposed in them and the Delta State government.
