NIGERIA AT 53: OCHEI URGES NIGERIANS TO RELISH UNITY IN DIVERSITY

Nigerians have been counselled to derive strength from the variety of tribes, dialects and cultures in sustaining the corporate existence of the country, thereby extenuating the virtues of unity in diversity.
The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Victor Ochei made this clarion call, contained in his celebratory message to Nigerians on the country’s 53rd independence anniversary.
In the message, the legislator highlighted resilience, patriotism, mutual tolerance, honesty and ability to shun divisive tendencies as essential ingredients in attaining societal development, which the country as a fledgling democracy needs.

OCHEI RESCUES ACCIDENT VICTIMS

Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Engr.) Victor Ochei has admonished drivers against excessive speeding and reckless driving as indulgence portend fatal consequences.
 He gave the piece of caution after supervising the rescue and evacuation of accident victims along the Obiaruku-Amai road in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta when a twenty-five seater high cabin bus conveying a wedding party from Ehor in Edo State to Amai, capsized.

CONCERNED DELTA WOMEN FOR OCHEI PASS CONFIDENCE VOTE

DELTA State Women with the name “Concerned Women for Ochei, Ndokwa Chapter, rose from their executive meeting last Sunday, with vote of confidence for excellent performance passed on the speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei.
The Women during their National Executive meeting in Kwale, also called on the speaker to join other Delta North aspirants for the governorship of the state come 2015 elections.
Moving the motion for the confidence vote, Mrs. June Igba from Ukwuani Local Government, explained that they considered Ochei’s peaceful and progressive leadership of the State House of Assembly, pointing out that such leadership virtue, if transcended into state governorship, will move Delta State to vantage global positions.

ASSEMBLY WORKERS COMMEND OCHEI’S LEADERSHIP STYLE

THE Delta State Chapter of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASSAN), has commended the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Victor Ochei for introducing a comprehensive transformational agenda in the administration of the state legislature.
Chairman of the association, Comrade McCartney Obrotu gave the commendation when he led the new executive committee on a courtesy visit to the Speaker.
According to him,” from the inception of the First Assembly, we have never experienced such monumental transformation in infrastructure and manpower development”.

WHY OUR OVERSEA TRAINING WAS NECESSARY –LAWMAKERS

The Leadership of Delta State House of Assembly has explained that the continuous training of legislators and staff of the legislature is necessary if sustainable development must be achieved for the people that gave them mandate to represent them. The House which spoke to newsmen through the Chairman, House Committee on Information and also the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Hon Johnson Erijo, on the activities of the legislature while on annual recess, said the House is taking pragmatic measures to work in line with the present ongoing restructuring of the legislature to position it for excellent service delivery.
