Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.
(Engr.) Victor Ochei has admonished drivers against excessive speeding and
reckless driving as indulgence portend fatal consequences.
He gave the piece of caution after supervising the rescue
and evacuation of accident victims along the Obiaruku-Amai road in Ukwuani
Local Government Area of Delta when a twenty-five seater high
cabin bus conveying a wedding party from Ehor in Edo State to Amai, capsized.
Survivors at the scene of the mishap attributed the
accident to the driver’s inability to control the vehicle at a sharp corner
while speeding excessively on a road he was not conversant with.
The Speaker, who was on his way to a function stopped his
convoy at the scene, and personally joined the supervision and evacuation of
victims, by deploying his official back-up escort vehicle to convey victims to
the Obiaruku General Hospital for prompt medical attention, before continuing
on his journey.
