Ochei who spoke in Asaba during a visit by the leadership of the
Anioma Agenda, an ethno-political group maintained that the demand by the Igbo
speaking people of Anioma for the governorship of the state was their
inalienable right, a development that will justify equity and fairness.
He advised the numerous ethnic groups in the state to uphold
unity in diversity, as it is the needed virtue capable of engendering
socio-political and economic advancement within the state, even in the face of
agitations for political.
According to him, Delta State as presently constituted was not a
mistaken contraption but, one of divine creation which, with cooperation will
encourage seamless peaceful coexistence, a necessary ingredient in societal
development.
The chairman of the group, Mr. Alex Onwudiamu pleaded with other
senatorial zones not to impose a difficult political burden on the Anioma
Political Class, maintaining that “the Anioma’s are capable of coming up with
one consensus candidate in 2015”
He explained that the visit was to seek the Speaker’s support as
a strategic stakeholder in ensuring that governorship candidates of North
Senatorial district extraction should be ready to subsume their personal
ambition for the overall group interest of the Anioma Nation at the material
time in their quest for the governorship position in Delta State in 2015.
