Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta state has charged those aspiring to take over from him in 2015 to seek the face of God.
Dr. Uduaghan who gave the
advice at the thanksgiving mass at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Ubiaja, said
that power comes from God.
According to him, “He who
becomes governor in 2015 will be decided by God,” the governor said, stating
that neither he nor President Goodluck Jonathan has the power to do such.
While reiterating that only God
can give power, the governor disclosed that his emergence as governor in 2007
was divine, emphasizing that he cannot stop giving thanks to God for His
goodness.
Governor Uduaghan noted that
the choice of Professor Amos Utuama as his Deputy was also by divine
intervention, stating that after emerging as the governorship candidate, his
greatest challenge was who was going to be his deputy considering the political
nature of the state.
He said: “What is the political
implication of having someone from Delta Central or North?”, he asked,
observing that within the last two years, three deputy governors have been
removed from office.
Also speaking, Prof. Utuama
said, “we want to acknowledge before everyone that power comes from God,”
stating that it has been “an exciting opportunity working with Governor
Uduaghan. He is a very intelligent person.”
