DELTA 2015: OCHEI ROARS BACK!

Former Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei is set to restart his gubernatorial ambition following a lull in his political activities after his resignation as Speaker.
Hobbled by the political turbulence that led to his resignation as the Speaker of what has been described as the most vibrant legislative house in Nigeria, the affable ex-speaker disappeared from public view for some time.
Prior to his resignation Ochei was seen as the runaway favorite to take over the mantle of leadership from Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan. His closeness to Uduaghan and most of the power blocs in the state left his opponents scratching their heads.
Ochei assembled his political associates last week and informed them that he was still very much in the race to succeed Uduaghan. “I am still in the race and God will give us victory.” He told at the meeting.
Sources close to Ochei confided to Delta Herald that the former speaker has consulted with Governor Uduaghan and has received his “blessing to resume his political consultations”
“He has also consulted widely with the power blocs in the state and received their blessings.”
“He is a free citizen like all others and no longer has the burden of being the speaker of the state with its attendant functions as an excuse. He has time on his side now. Official functions have been reduced so the lion is ready to roar.”
“He will be resuming where he stopped. Before he resigned as speaker he has built a very strong political family across the three senatorial districts. I am not boasting but the structure Ochei has built is the most formidable in the state and it will take more than his resignation as speaker to obliterate it. He is the candidate that Deltans want. It is that simple.”
“You know Ochei is a lion and he is coming back stronger than before. I won’t say like a wounded lion but he is coming back stronger than before.” The trusted ally of Ochei said
According the source, Ochei is the only aspirant in the state who has built a team of formidable tea with a blend of young and old politicians and businessmen to support his ambition.
During Ochei’s brief hiatus from the political scene, another formidable aspirant, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa who represents Delta North senatorial district took advantage intensifying his campaign and “empowerment programs” in the state.
With Ochei set to resume “consultation” this week the political temperature will surely rise a notch above normal.
