Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly,
Victor Ochei, has broken his silence on the state’s 2015 governorship race,
maintaining that he is still consulting over the matter.
He stated this on Tuesday in Asaba during the 2013 end of
the year media parley, disclosing that as a politician, he has to start getting
ready for 2014 when political activities intensify. He added that would
disclose his intention after rounding off his consultation with his
constituents.
The speaker stated that he would not stop politicking,
saying that he is entitled to contest for any position, can work with and
support anybody and that he is qualified he would seek for the support of
Deltans.
Speaking on the attempted assassination on his life at a
political function recently, Ochei said the matter was both political and
criminal, adding that the police were still investigating the matter and not
comment it.
The speaker stated that print, electronic and online
journalism should be regulated, adding that that journalists should uphold the
tenets of the profession when writing reports, do thorough investigation, be responsible
even if they hold the knife and the yam.
