Nigerians have been counselled to derive strength from
the variety of tribes, dialects and cultures in sustaining the corporate
existence of the country, thereby extenuating the virtues of unity in
diversity.
The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon
Victor Ochei made this clarion call, contained in his celebratory message to
Nigerians on the country’s 53rd independence anniversary.
In the message, the legislator highlighted resilience,
patriotism, mutual tolerance, honesty and ability to shun divisive tendencies
as essential ingredients in attaining societal development, which the country
as a fledgling democracy needs.
