GROUPS BACKS DELTA SPEAKER

The dream of Delta State’s Speaker to become the next governor is receiving support from various groups in the area.
The 2015 gubernatorial ambition of the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Victor Ochei, received a boost recently.  The Speaker received massive support from various groups in the state towards the realisation of his dream.
At a gathering of young political elite recently at the Effurun residence of Hon. Sunny Onuesoke, a former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP; several groups used the event to pledge their support for Hon. Ochei.  Delta Focus Group, a pro-Ochei political pressure group also paid a courtesy visit to appeal to him to join the Ochei 2015 project.
In his speech during the visit, national chairman of Delta Focus Group, DFG, Comrade Joshua Egun-Okoh, stated that the visit was a great opportunity for members of DFG to appeal for Mr. Onuesoke to join the Ochei campaign train.
He said, “DFG is poised to deliver Ochei through positive campaigns come 2015 because it is made up of coordinators at the national, senatorial, local government and ward levels. It has a page created for it on facebook and also an SMS base website for disseminating positive information about the activities and programmes of the group and that of Mr. Speaker.
“The group has also taken it as a culture by publishing its interest for Mr. Speaker on national dailies and local tabloids on weekly basis. All the campaign efforts we have made so far have been through our personal efforts because we have not received any monetary assistance from anyone or Mr. Speaker.
“We are doing all these out of the love we have for Ochei because we find him to be a vibrant young man that is ready to consolidate on the development of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan beyond 2015.”
Mr. Sunny Onuesoke, who is also the special project director, sector ‘A’ of the Ughelli/Asaba road dualisation in his response assured that Delta Central senatorial district would vote for the speaker of Delta State House of Assembly as governor come 2015.
Onuesoke described Ochei as a vibrant lawmaker who will take Delta State to the next level if voted into the office.
During the inauguration of the group in Effurun, Uvwie LGA, the national coordinator of DCPF, Mr. Ochuko Megere, said that Urhobo as the largest ethnic group in the state should play the role of kingmaker, by conceding the 2015 governorship position to Delta North senatorial district rather than producing a candidate for the governorship election.
Mejere, said that in the interest of justice and fairness, Urhobos should jettison the idea of producing a governorship candidate in 2015 and rally round Ochei for the position.
While assuring the leadership and membership of the group that they were not going to labour in vain if they support Ochei in 2015, the state coordinator of the group, Mr. Vincent Ejagiwhre, promised members that their effort would not be in vein if they support Ochei in the coming governorship election.
“Although, I have not met Ochei one on one, but with the way and manner he is handling legislative matters in Delta State House of Assemble, I am of the belief that he has all it takes to impact good governance in Delta State as governor of Delta State.
Another member of the group, Chief Omonigho Ogbakpah, who hails from Mosogar clan of Ethiope West LGA, said the group is opened to all Deltans irrespective of their political affiliation, stressing that he is ready to work for a credible man who would move Delta State forward.
He said, “Emphasis should not be placed on senatorial district. I believe Hon. Ochei will move Delta State forward. That is why I am supporting him,” he said.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Sunny Akpobuwa, state youth leader from Uvwie LGA, who was sworn-in alongside Uvwie LGA executives, thanked the leadership of the body and promised to work with them in order to achieve the aims and objectives of the group.
Comrade Benjamin Ogbon, chairman Uvwie chapter of the body, reassured o his commitment to the goals of the body.
