Former Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly Rt. Hon.
Victor Ochei is set to restart his gubernatorial ambition following a lull in
his political activities after his resignation as Speaker.
Hobbled by the political turbulence that led to his
resignation as the Speaker of what has been described as the most vibrant
legislative house in Nigeria, the affable ex-speaker disappeared from public
view for some time.
Prior to his resignation Ochei was seen as the runaway
favorite to take over the mantle of leadership from Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan.
His closeness to Uduaghan and most of the power blocs in the state left his
opponents scratching their heads.
Ochei assembled his political associates last week and
informed them that he was still very much in the race to succeed Uduaghan. “I
am still in the race and God will give us victory.” He told at the meeting.
