2015 GUBER RACE: DELTA TRANSFORMATION PROJECT ADOPTS OCHEI AS DELTA NORTH CANDIDATE

Ahead of the 2015 governorship poll in Delta state, a front-line socio-political pressure group, the Delta Transformation Project (DTP), has unanimously adopted Rt. Hon. Victor Onyekachi Ochei, Speaker of the state House of Assembly as best candidate from Delta North, after a successful opinion poll conducted within the three senatorial districts of the state.

The DTP, with intentions to ensure that Delta state is politically stable and peaceful with transformational development that is built on equity, justice and good governance, said the opinion poll was conducted to determine who is the most favoured governorship candidate from the Delta North Senatorial District.

DELTA ASSEMBLY: OCHEI PERFORMING BEYOND EXPECTATION –ERIYAMREMU

Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Victor Ochei, has been commended for his quality leadership and performing beyond expectation within the short period in office.

A youth leader in Ughelli North Local Government Area, Mr. Chris Eriyamremu, made the commendation, stressing that the Speaker had surprised all.

According to Eriyamremu, it has become imperative to commend the quality leadership of Hon. Ochei for providing the enabling and friendly atmosphere in the House, adding that the House within the period of one year has made remarkable achievements.

Speaker of the Delta State Legislature, Rt. Hon (Engr) Victor Ochei FNSE, has revealed that his unwavering support for wheelchair basketball stems from his desire to bringing smiles and hope to the physically challenged in the society.

He made this statement at a recent media session with some sports journalists in his office at Asaba, heralding the second edition of the Rt. Hon (Engr) Victor Ochei International wheelchair basketball championship scheduled for the 18th through the 25th February 2013.

OCHEI HEADS SPORTS BODY AS DELTA INAUGURATES ASSOCIATIONS

The indoor sports hall of the Asaba Township Stadium witnessed a gathering of titans and consummate personalities during the inauguration of 32 sporting associations in Delta State.

Driven by passion, Delta State has continued to champion a revolution in sports development in Nigeria, a process that climaxed in the convocation of a summit in October last year.

The Chairmen and members of the inaugurated sports associations are expected to identify talents with programmes put in place for their development, raise funds from the private sector to organize adequate competitions and carry out sensitization on fair and drug-free regime by athletes, among others.

TEAM LAGOS WIN N2M AT VICTOR OCHEI WHEELCHAIR B/BALL TOURNEY

Team Lagos have won the star prize of N2 million at the just concluded 2nd Ochei Wheelchair Basketball International Championship held inside the Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos Saturday.

Team Lagos defeated Delta State in the final by 40-29 points. Runners up got the sum of N1.5m, while the third place winners, Edo State got N1m from the sponsor, Victor Ochei, the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly.

LEGISLATING FOR A GREATER DELTA STATE

I DO not hold a copyright to the headline of this piece. The inspiration came from the theme of the 2012 calendar of the Delta State House of Assembly, DTHA, which, to any discerning and concerned observer of affairs in the current dispensation, encapsulates the mindset and modus operandi of the honourable members of the House.

A salient question that should engage the minds of all is whether this set concept of ‘’Legislating for A Greater Delta State’’ is being actualised or not.

MEET THE SPEAKER

Rt. Hon. (Engr) Victor Onyekachi Ochei, is the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly. Prior to his elevation as the Primus Interpares of the Delta State Legislature, he had represented Aniocha North State Constituency since 2003. He was the Deputy Minority Leader of the 3rd Assembly and also served as the Chairman of the House Committee on Education of the penultimate Assembly.

He is a gifted orator, an astute businessman, Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), a gentleman par excellence, a phenomenal philanthropist, a community builder, a political bulldozer, a democrat, an efficient team player, an inimitable administrator, a polyglot, a loving father, darling husband and the Olikeze of Onicha-Olona.
